Wednesday...another testing: one, two, three.

Day three. Another kind of schedule. This day Mom works and we go to church. Also, we had a friend who needed a place to go after school, so that threw a little hitch in our schedule. But, remember I said this year, we would be more flexible, less stressed. (Remind me of that motto in a couple of weeks, OK?)

We read about Cain & Abel, Seth, Jubal and Tubal-Cain, Methuselah and Noah before leaving the house this morning. We had a little bit of stress with the math problems this mornig, but I told The Boy he was lucky because he would not live as long as Methuselah, so he would not have to do math for that long. Always look at the bright side...right? After that, he found his copywork to be a comfort!

Mom is off to work and The Boy is dropped off with Granny. During the morning, he completed his preposition search with Rat and Mole, read the next section of zoology, worked his math practice problems and read the last of Leif the Lucky.

He also read about the Stone Age in A Child's History of the World and about Jubal and Tubal-Cain in Mystery of History. He was amazed that everything across the board that we had discussed for the last 3 days had tied into Creation. After reading about Jubal and Tubal-Cain in our Bible lesson and then in MOH, and learning how man discovered copper from ACHOW, he was really getting into his history lessons. (Thank you, Lord) Even though we have talked about the Tigris and Euphrates a gazillion times, it finally clicked and sparked an interest today. Go figure.

When I finished up at work and picked him up, we went home so I could eat lunch and we could finish up our basics before our school friend came over. His math problems were all done correctly, he answered all of the Leif the Lucky questions I threw at him and he noted that it was sad that Leif died, then asked if this was a fairy tale. Confirmed my thought that we should have read this book again! LOL We finished up history by talking about how copper was discovered and how hard it had to be for the early people who did not have heavy metals for weapons and tools. Isn't it amazing that this lesson came right after his Cool Science class about simple machines?

Then, the real fun began! We read another section from the zoology book and did an experiment about air pressure. It was simple, fun, and funny--and made him understand what air pressure is.
Who would have thought a cup of water and 2 straws could make learning fun..simply and easily!

After spraying (or spewing) water all over the kitchen, in the name of science, we moved on to making a notebook to keep all of our experiments in. This air pressure experiment was the first to be recorded.

After that fun, we calmed down with Mother Goose and Wind in the Willows before our friend came over. PS2 time!

We made it to church on time, enjoyed the food and fellowship and praise time. When we got home we did a quick geography thingy and went over the zoology questions. After some more PS2 time, this time with Dad, we are about to retire with Daniel, Rat & Mole, the Hollister clan, and our friends in the Hundred Acre Wood!

Good night, all. It has been a stretched, but not stressed day and as The Boy actually said (I had to pinch myself), "I think this is going to work!".

Thank you, Lord, yet again, for all my blessings.
