Bumps in the road

Well, we have been looking forward to returning to co-op this fall. I planned to teach a geography & history class using Pirates as the "appeal", called Pirates of the Seven Seas. We would study the geography of each of the major bodies of water, how those bodies of water contributed to piracy over the course of history (creation to today), and how piracy of that area affected history. What fun!

Another class I planned to co-teach was a 2 semester offering. This semester we would be learning about photography and tying in some creative writing with that. We would also have "school pictures" packages for each participant. Next semester we would use our photography and writing skills to put together a yearbook for all members of the co-op.

Alas, the best laid plans......

Due to finances (isn't it always), we have had to cancel our plan to participate in a co-op that is 45 miles away (that is 90 miles a week). I have sent out an S.O.S. (school's on, son) to homeschoolers closer to see if ANYONE would like to start a co-op. I hope someone finds my message in a bottle!

Even with the bump, I am still looking forward to September and our new year. Traditionally, we begin our school year with a field trip on Labor Day (first day of school). Hope to go back to Westville for the Fiddlers' Contest this year...but finances may confine our field trip to our back yard with some binoculars and a camera!

Just more bumps in the road! One day I may be able to afford a grater (or is that grader) to grind those bumps down!
